Water Polo requires effort. Many athletes and those that have played in the past, would argue that you cannot just pick up the sport at the collegiate level. They will say that it is too difficult, or that there are too many rules to learn. However, after getting to know the team here at West Chester, they proved this statement wrong. Many members of the team are brand new to the sport but play well enough to keep the team in contention with the other schools in the league. All it takes is a little determination and great teaching by the veterans on the team, and you too could play alongside of these great athletes.
Playing water polo here could help you get out of your comfort zone and make new friends, but it is also a great way to stay fit and have fun while doing so.
Now that you too can understand the basics of the sport of water polo and the team here at WCU, I strongly encourage you to reach out to the team if you have any interest. Although the skills needed may seem just a little bit more than most of us can handle, I have seen the willingness of each and every team member to educate new girls on how to play. Through just one season alone, the growth and cohesion of the team made them stand out among the others. We all come to college to try new things and break out of our shells, so why not try water polo? You’ll never know if you will sink or float if you don’t get in the pool first.
