Are you a former female athlete who is looking to stay active throughout your time here at West Chester? West Chester Clubs and Organizations offers 28 different sports teams for athletes of all kinds. Of these clubs, I have found that the Women's Water Polo Club has opened its arms to teach new members this upcoming fall.

West Chester University is one of only six Water Polo teams that compete in the Mid-Atlantic Division. This team of girls ranges from those who have been playing this sport since elementary school, to girls that have never played a day in their lives. For those of us that have never played, but have experience in water (swimmers, divers, lifeguards, etc.) the team has reached out to recruit new members and now is the best time to find out more about the sport and how to join.

As a softball player for over nine years, when I arrived at West Chester, I was disappointed to find that they did not have a club team. However, I decided to go out if my typical comfort zone and look for other sports to play. This winter, I was invited to a water polo tournament by my roommate and became captivated by the game and decided to learn more about how it was played and why the team members were so passionate about the sport in order to tell girls like me why they should try out water polo.

Many of the girls I met were new to the sport, but had begun to learn the ins and outs of water polo over the last few months. With their help, and the help of a few lead teammates, I was able to learn with them. The rules were intricate, the skills were a lot to master, but in the end I discovered why this game was so important to them.
